Empowering Women, Strengthening Families, Building Communities

The Economic Reality in Haiti

In Haiti, poverty remains a persistent and generational challenge, especially for women, rural families, and small-scale farmers. According to the World Bank, over 60% of the population lives on less than $2.15 per day, and nearly half of working-age adults face unemployment or underemployment. These economic hardships are compounded for women and single mothers, who often lack access to credit, education, and formal employment opportunities. Without the tools to earn a stable income, many are forced to rely on informal work or subsistence farming, which offers little security or growth. The result is a cycle of poverty that limits opportunity and stifles community development. Women, in particular, face systemic barriers that prevent them from contributing fully to the economy, despite their central role in family and community life. Addressing these disparities is critical to improving household stability, food security, and long-term economic resilience across Haiti.

Our Commitment

We believe that economic empowerment is essential to breaking the cycle of poverty. Our programs are designed to foster independence, strengthen families, and create pathways to sustainable livelihoods, especially for women, youth, and families participating in our scholarship initiatives.

We don’t just offer support, we invest in long-term solutions that promote dignity, self-reliance, and economic justice.

Current Focus

We are actively working to expand economic opportunity through:

  • Supporting families, especially those with children in our scholarship program, with personal garden assistance to improve food security and household nutrition

  • Promoting entrepreneurship and skill-building to help individuals launch and sustain income-generating activities

Key Initiatives:

Women & Youth Empowerment

We prioritize initiatives that foster leadership, confidence, and economic independence among women and young people, helping them become agents of change within their families and communities.

Entrepreneurship & Skills Development

We provide vocational training, financial literacy workshops, and startup support to help individuals, especially women and youth, launch microenterprises and build sustainable livelihoods.

Household Food Security & Agricultural Support

We assist families in establishing and maintaining personal gardens to improve access to fresh produce and reduce food insecurity. We also support smallholder farmers with tools and training to enhance crop yield and income.

Impact and Hope

Our socio-economic empowerment initiatives are more than programs, they are pathways to transformation. Every training session, garden planted, and microenterprise launched represents a step toward dignity, independence, and resilience.

We’ve trained dozens of women and youth in entrepreneurship and vocational trades, equipping them with the skills to earn income and support their families. Female-led microenterprises have received startup kits, enabling them to launch businesses in food, crafts, and services. Smallholder farmers have received cash grants to recover from disasters and improve crop production, while local artisans have been connected to new buyers, increasing household income and market visibility.

These efforts ripple outward. When women earn income, they reinvest in their children’s nutrition, education, and well-being. When farmers thrive, communities grow stronger. Each success story is a testament to what’s possible when opportunity meets determination.

This is the impact. This is the hope. And it’s only just beginning.

Why This Matters

When women are empowered, families thrive. Children eat better, attend school, and communities become more resilient. When farmers earn income, they reinvest in land, education, and local growth. These ripple effects turn hardship into hope.
