In Haiti, many children face enormous barriers to attending school. Around 45% of children aged 6 to 9 have never enrolled in school, and nearly 40% of students drop out before completing ninth grade. These challenges are compounded by the fact that over 90% of schools are privately operated, placing the full cost of education (often around $140 USD per year) directly on families.
Without consistent, quality education, children are more vulnerable to poverty, poor health, and lost opportunity. The youth literacy rate hovers around 61%, underscoring the urgent need for action.

We believe education is the foundation for individual empowerment and community resilience. Our Education Program works to remove financial, material, and systemic barriers for children and youth in Haiti’s western and northern regions.
